Aliko Dangote is a businessman based in Nigeria. He is the owner of the Dangote Group, which has operations in Nigeria and several other countries in West Africa. A wealthy supporter of erstwhile President Olusegun Obasanjo and the ruling People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Dangote controls much of Nigeria’s commodities trade through his corporate and political connections. With an estimated current net worth of around US$3.3 billion, he was ranked by forbes as the 334th richest man in the world as of March 5, 2008, making him the second richest black person in the world ahead of Oprah Winfrey ($2.5 billion), Mo Ibrahim ($2.5 billion) and Patrice Motsepe of South Africa ($2.4 billion). Ethiopia born Mohammed Al Amoudi is the World’s richest black person.

    No one should be surprised at this. Aliko Dangote found an opportunity and he utilised it optimally. But he has also supported himself with quality and well motivated employees nd managers.

    I can assure you that many Nigerians are coming up, some are already there – and I dont mean those who embezzled public fund.

    Africa has a great future.

  3. I am proud of Dangote been the richest man in nigeria it is good because he worked hard for it and deserve it he should keep it up and stepping up in the world, instead of No. 334 position in the world he should atleast aim No. 10 or higher than that.
