question: why do Nigerian couples wait for 7-days before naming their new born child?

Kindly, why do people in Nigeria wait for 7-days before naming a Child? as in what’s with the “7” days.

• Why 7-days, why not 2-days or 14-days or 1-month.
• In fact, why not give the child a name before “it” is born. I am of the opinion that a choice of names could be in place if it comes out a boy or girl.
• is there anything religious in waiting for 7-days? and if the couple chooses to name the Child immediately, whats the sin in it?

Why the 7-days? What will happen if a couple doesn’t wait for 7-days?
