I heard on the radio two days ago that comments left on President Goodluck Jonathan’s Facebook page influenced his decision to bow to FIFA’s threat to ban Nigeria if we decide to pull out of International Football, as per our President’s former decision. For more, read here.
While Nigerian Football needs a total overhauling, for Mr. President to go back on his decision looks to me like an attempt to throw his words around for the sake of speaking. He could just have stuck to his decision, let FIFA be FIFA and let Nigeria be Nigeria. Nigeria is a sovereign Nation. Its FIFA that has something to loose, not Nigeria. Anyway, FIFA, FIFA, FIFA has now become a valid reason for corruption within the Nigerian Football Federation.
The new committee(Presidential Committee on Football Development) that was set up to oversee Football until further notice in Nigeria had no better idea than set up a President Goodluck Jonathan Football Cup.
In the heat of the moment, the NFF board had an emergency meeting yesterday, the second in seven days, to review the state of its affiars.
At the end of the meeting presided over by Maigari, the board resolved that all issues surroundng the proposed elections billed for August 21, will now be discussed by the congress made up of the state FA chairmen and their secretaries.
The congress will also decide whether to extend the tenure of the current board by five months to ensure a smooth election.
The board also instituted a national U-16 tournament for male and female among the 774 local councils in the country to be called the President Goodluck Jonathan Cup.
It resolved that it would pay particular attention to age grade football development, ensuring that age cheats are rooted out from representing the national teams.
Meanwhile, FIFA has formally stayed action on enforcing a ban on Nigeria and has even gone on to acknowledge the change of guards at NFF

Is this not another play of words? is this not another design to flatter Nigerians? Is a President Goodluck Jonathan’s Cup the answer to bribery, corruption, scandals, etc in the Football Glass house?
anyway, back to the President’s Facebook page:

the President’s URL is: http://www.facebook.com/jonathangoodluck
Please head on the the above URL and leave a comment for Mr. President. Whatever we need, Mr. President says he’s ready to listen.

The two important issues directly affecting nigerians at present among many others, is the provision of good roads and streets within the comunities with lightings and 24 hours electricity power. Our nigerian leaders that travel to developed countries must have been seeing how decent the streets and roads in these developed counties and even some developing countries they visit are and yet to will always want to return to their home which they have turned to dust bin. I wonder why they cannot provide such facilities in their own country. To me, is like group of people who prefer to make their home a “dustbin” and take care of their friends’. President Goodluck Jonathan please help this country so that all the bad “runs” against our beloved home will end. We dont have another home. thank you. peter onyeche. phone 07025206769

I have a pressing case of injustice by the Federal Civil Service Commission that purportedly dismissed my wife a GL 16 Officer after 35 years meritorious service on unfounded allegation that she took some staff to Court who was separating a fight. I would like the President to be aware of this malicious dismissal which ignored due processes and discouraging to hardworking Nigerians. The Ministry despite false allegations did not recommend dismissal because of the revival of their office in Makurdi. The Office of the Head of Civil Service was sidetracked and recommended the dismissal be changed to Retirement. FCSC is adamant and for over 7 years have not paid any salary to my wife Dr. (Mrs) Grace Ebhojie, an accomplished Mathematics teacher, Administrator. Please help us we are victimised by the FCSC and we have no money to go to Court which will expose the malpractice in this case as it was a few individuals that falsified the documents one Mr. D.Ibe former of Education and a Mr. Ale former Senior staf f in FCSC. The President is a father of Justice and will never allow injustice to succeed. How do you dismiss a level 16 Officer who has actually succeeded to GL 17 interview but due to extreme jeolosy they truncated the bright services on bases of alleged wrong. She did not embezzle any money. I am preparedd to substantiate all the misstatements e.g. that they asked her to withdraw a court libel case so that it can be settled administratively. It was a lie, let them produce the evidence of the letter written.
