I arrived home from work yesterday at about 7:30pm. “The argument” in my neighbors compound began around 9pm before I went to bed. My eyes couldn’t close until 3-hours later. All through the night, my sleep was disturbed as I kept waking up and then falling asleep again; and until this morning when I left home by 8.am, they(my neighbors) were still shouting, screaming at each other, and breaking one thing or the other(so many noises of broken bottles, metal against metal, slammed doors), etc.
Some other neighbors had tried to intervene (I overheard many people trying to talk at the same time) – to no avail. I concluded: Satan had just moved in with that family.
All the while, I couldn’t take my mind off a thought that there was “possibly” a day when this husband and wife, in the presence of a couple of smiling “witnesses” said ” I do” / committed themselves to one another by some form of statement; and wherever – either in Church or at a traditional ceremony somewhere in this Nigeria. Somebody somewhere must have “blessed” their union, while all those witnesses wished them well. How I wish I knew where those people are, perhaps, they could come to the aid of this couple at war with each other.
I believe thats why the saying goes: marriage is not merry age.

[...] It looks like when God was allocating talents to different parts of the world, its either he allocated us(Nigerians) or perhaps we specially requested for the corruption and financial scamming talent. Check out Tobechi Onwuhara. Unfortunately what happens at home happens abroad, and the Nigerian environment is one where you cant be too concerned about what goes on around you. What do you do when your neighbors are street fighters? [...]
