The above title is my observation and conclusion over the past couple of weeks / months since Boko Haram started throwing Bombs left and right – after talking with a couple of people, especially Islamics in Nigeria about this unfortunate development.
The following questions are running through my mind:
- First, I am curious where these folks get these Bombs. In Nigeria where light and water are a luxury, and where electricity-generating sets are the order of the day? where do they get bombs?
- I don’t think that Nigerians in the North have the brain power and intellect to manufacture explosive material, considering the number of uneducated males and females from Abuja to Maiduguri to Sokoto? these folks don’t go to school, so how come with the bombs?
- are these bombs imported material? how are they brought in? where are they bought from? which port do they come through?
- and if these bombs are locally made? do they have an expert explosive manufacturing engineer somewhere who is making his money making bombs for the boko haram – killing innocent people and smiling to the bank weekly? where do they get the explosive resouces and who is putting it all together?
- or perhaps expatriate foreigners, dare devil Pakistani / Algerians / Saudi Arabians, ex-alquaedas are already resident in Nigeria, masquerading as buisnessmen and supporting these boko Harams “technically-speaking”?
Worse, the Nigerian Police do not have the intellecual mind to conduct an investigation, so presently the FBI have taken matters into their own hands.
I was at my newspaper stand this morning and ‘boko Haram’ was the discussion point. Unfortunately, I observed that some muslims are still “sympathetic” to whatever destruction is going on, and rather than outrightly condemning the destruction of innocent life and property, they are looking at it from the “support Islam” point of view. One guy was of the opinion that the government should negotiate with Boko Haram just as it did with Niger Delta millitants, that they, BK were fighting a Jihad.
Jihad? when did Allah give an instruction to go kill innocent people in Nigeria for that matter? Honestly, that comment alone got my nerves this morning. In fact, I disagree more and more with the Islamic faith – I can’t just get those words out of my mind.
Can somebody tell me that Violence is unIslamic? coz presently, I can’t see a difference between the two.
I am the kind of person that calls a spade a spade when its time to call a spade a spade. Even if these Boko Haram people were professing Christians, I would still condemn their act, and so, I find no reason why any other bonafide citizen of Nigeria, in his or her right mind regardless of religious inclination should do different.
Can you believe that the useless idiot moron of a human goat pant terrorist Farouk Abdulmattab has the guts to ask to be tried in a Sharia court? I thought the guy would have come to his senses by now, at least to realize he made a mistake in getting himself almost killed. So with all his education, he couldn’t put religion and religious extremism in proper perspective? What is the use of all the millions of British Pounds wasted on British Education.
And the useless guy even commenced a Masters degree in International Buisness at the University of Wollongong, Dubai? while 842,651 candidates out of the 1,493,604 who sat for JAMB failed? if only they had fathers who had money to waste on them, they might have fared better. Or was was terrorism Farouk’s first masters degree project?
Ive always thought that education is supposed to make one wiser, be a better person and create a better environment for self and others, but Farouk just proved me false.Did he realize that the plane he entered was an American plane with free citizens of the world inside the flight? Why didn’t he go hijack one of his fathers jets and go explode it in mid-air over Maiduguri? he could have also crashed it into his fathers house, at least Nigeria won’t be agog presently with Islamic banking.
I am really really angry!
According to another commentator at my newspaper stand; in any war, there are casualties…implying that all those injured people at the UN building are “mere casualties”. I and a couple of others raised our voices and emotions against him, calling him all sorts of names. The presence of a policeman passing by made him quickly leave the scene. How can a sane / normal person think / say that the victims of bombings across Nigeria are casualties of war? which war? who is figthing who? so BK is now fighting a war? which war? a war against westernization? BK uses cellphones, they ride cars and motorbikes, they throw bombs and wear clothes sown with sowing machines – are these not products of western education. And is the quoran they read which they have turned upside down not printed with printing machine and ink and paper? do these folks think at all?
question:
- Is this BK issue the result of mere religious extremism or the result of a seriously deranged and uneducated mindset. I want to believe that the leaders of these Bombers would be sitting pretty in their mansions around the country, eating chicken, watching TV and licking their fingers, years and years after the suicide bombers they sent to kill themselves are long dead, has been burnt to ashes in a painful death and forgotten.
- Isn’t Mohammed Manga very helpless presently? he can’t defend himself, nobody knows where his dead body is, he wasn’t even buried according to Islamic rights, so hes far from paradise. Whether or not the money promised to his family is given to them, whether or not his children go to school, whether or not his wife is given to another, whether or not his daughter becomes the next wife of Yerima, whether or not his family members have been driven out of their accomodation? can Mr. Manga come to their resuce?
- Couldn’t these BKs put their reasoning faculties into operation and realize that they(bombers) are the loosers at the very very end? And while those who send them on death errands claim to be hearing by God, why cant they (BK’s leaders) carry out the operation themselves.
Another commentator was of the opinion that its time to divide Nigeria. W!!hile I would rather live in peace, whoever wants to leave Nigeria should leave, I am of the opinion that should the Northern and Southern parts of Nigeria divide into two, the Northern-Nigeria will become the terrorist hub of West-Africa. Al-Quaeda will move in full-time and after impoverishing the North, they will start terrorizing the rest of Africa.
Somebody please tell me that Violence is unIslamic, coz with all these bloodshed, that some Muslims in this country are indifferent / find nothing wrong with it – this baffles me seriously.
What is the whole point of religon? And while I write this, I’m reminded of a former post titled: Muslims and Christians, what is the difference between our Gods?; coz if our Gods are the same, if really its just our modes of worship that differs one to another, then why does God command us to kill each other, hate each other, destroy each other? someone tell me why?
I am very very angry!

The write up is ok but you are somehow religious bias and put some kind of stereotyping comment on northerners.How dare you refering to Yerima in this situation?is every northerner a boko haram?though,no religion preach violence but some comment at time causes a lot of problem.As u know that muslim strongly believe in Al-quran simply because no aspect of live is exempted in the holy book(quran),why are u saying we’r turning it up side down(that is overstatement).But all in all,i commend your effort by posit that Nigeria will everly be a single entity and i pray that God will lead us through.Let’s be prayerful,by God grace the insurgence of boko haram,flood, kidnapping,minimum wage,etc will soon come to an end(amin). So help us Allah

Referring to the title: not only some Muslims, and not only in “this” country. But such is the nature of extremism, as well as of religious fanaticism (in any religion – it’s unfair to blame poor Muslims only).
