Sometimes I wonder if Nigerians are ever going to change and become good people. Nigerians are bad people, no doubt, and unfortunately, they are not ready to change.
Heres a summary of the video:
Bidemi Bakare is the scammer involved this time, the official ringleader. He swindled a white australian woman of all her savings, meanwhile, Bidemi was posing as a white guy living in Malaysia.
When the lady finally knew she was swindled, the local Malaysian police got involved. A lady investigator familiar with the trails Nigerian scammers leave decided to take Bidemi at his own game. She poses as a single lady on the same dating site where Bidemi operates; and she and Bidemi get talking. When the money talk starts, Bidemi is lured into the trap via another middle man(a police officer) who is to deliver the money – US$23,000 (23 thousand dollars) which Bidemi asked for.
The plan was for Bidemi to come collect the money at a hotel room. Instead, he sends a local teenager(a courier) to collect the money. The courier leads them to Bidemi and his other 5-accomplices who were in the vicinity of the hotel waiting for the courier. They were all arrested.
On the paper trail: the investigators find the phone number of Roselyn(the australian woman he duped) on his mobile phone(just to confirm he is the one who has been posing as a white Mr. Benjamin). More interesting, they found the phone numbers of 81(eighty one) australian women on his mobile phone: former and potential targets.
Back on the paper trail, it was discovered the Bidemi Bakare’s earnings have been consistently sent back to Nigeria, into the hands of crime gangs and terrorist groups in Nigeria.
The woman is in tears after all her money is gone, besides, she says all she ever wanted was to help him (her assumed white lover boy, Benjamin) to get out of Malaysia and join her in Australia to live a new life.
“Danger arises when love is blind” – (a strong word for lovers there) the commentator says, but unfortunately, within a couple of days after Bidemi and his accomplices were nabbed, while Roselyn was supposed to be recuperating, she was back on the same dating site and being wooed by another man calling himself Richard William. The investigators told her that Richard William is another scammer, and unfortunately again, Roselyn is a little doubtful.
Now this is a take home: the investigator tells Roselyn to turn the computer off and adds: if you cant see the whites of their eyes and if they arent buying you a drink, don’t talk to them”.
Roselyn replies: “no one buys me a drink, that’s the whole problem”.
There is a support group in Brisbane for Australians who have been stunged by Nigerians.
Remarks:
- the video is quite touching. I feel so much for the lady who can’t distinguish her right for her left – especially in matters of the heart, considering her age. In Nigeria, a lady of her age should not be falling to cheap scams. Perhaps, its because of the environment she grew up in – where everything she was told from childhood about was always true, an environment where the average person on the street is not a liar by default; as compared to the African / Nigerian environment, where white isn’t always white except it is verified and re-verified over and over again. Besides, you might need to investigate the person who declares to you that white is always white.
- these are definitely take home statements: “Danger arises when love is blind”
- the useless Nigerian Bidemi Bakare shows no remorse at all at what he is accused of. The investigators should have invited a Nigerian Millitary officer to help give Bidemi an introductory beating of his life – for even disgracing himself, his family, and bringing on us all a National embarrassment. His whole body should be in bandages, that’s when he will learn not to scam again. His parents sent him to Malaysia to study, he is busy scamming people.
- And rather than deporting people like Mr. Bidemi who shows no remorse, he should be jailed for life. useless stupid idiotic ingrate.
- Unfortunately, his father wasn’t around when he was born. Maybe that’s part of the nemesis catching up with him.
here are some pics from the video:
Bidemi:
Bidemi’s Malaysian courier:
Bidemi’s and his accomplices:
With the hair on the head of this one, only God knows what course he is studying.
Bidemi’s victim: Roselyn
Roselyn was being wooed by another scammer(identity below) just a couple of days after the Bidemi Bakare saga. That’s why I wonder why some women so desperately want to get married / find someone to call a lover. Doesn’t the desperation lead to vulnerability?
And just in case you are in Roselyn’s shows, don’t forget: if you cant see the whites of their eyes and if they arent buying you a drink, don’t talk to them”.
Observation: for the past couple of years, every new year, there is some Nigerian at some part of the world disgracing the country. It has been either drugs, terrorism, 419, etc.

Firstly , I will like to correct your blind and spurious generalization and impression about all Nigerians you said ” Sometimes I wonder if Nigerians are ever going to change and become good people. Nigerians are bad people, no doubt, and unfortunately, they are not ready to change ” I am disappointed that you could make this kind of comment with all your exposure, never generalize, not all Nigerians are scammers and bad people , we are 150million people, the fact that we have a few miscreants who unfortunately happen to be Nigerians engaging in cyber fraud and doing stupid and despicable things does not mean every other Nigerian will do the same. There are wicked people, scammers and even hackers in every nation be it USA, Britain, Indonesia, Spain, Japan,Russia etc.
There are lots of Nigerians who are doing great abroad and making the nation proud in their chosen career or endeavor.I live in Europe, I am studying I dont engage in fraud and I know lots of honest heart Nigerians who will never cheat you or engage in crimes because they have the fear of Almighty God, and they believe in the saying that “whatever you sow you will reap”, if you sow wickedness in you will reap wickedness and if you sow righteousness, you will reap righteousness in return. So next time when you write about a Nigerian who has done something stupid, be specific and dont generalize.
Back to Bidemi Bakare and partners in crime, I am extremely disappointed in you guys, I even regret that you are Nigerians, there are lots of criminals like you out there, who are giving bad names to Nigerians, my prayer is that just as you have been caught , others who follow your foot steps will also be caught and brought to justice, you need to face the wrath of the law for your evil ways and you must be punished, infact after you finish serving your jail terms in Malaysia, you need to be tried again in Nigeria and serve another jail terms in Nigeria for soiling the name of the country and giving us a bad reputation and image.Bastards.
For the white victim, my advice for you is behind every scam activity there is greed and desperation, alot of people fall victim to cyber fraud because they are greedy, they want to make millions with just a few thousands. It might be better to remain single and live with little or no regrets than to end up being scammed and live the rest of your life in sorrow and pains all in a desperate bid to find a lover. From the video, I heard that after all that has happened to you, you stil returned to the dating site and now with another guy who is of questionable identity, well a word is enough for the wise.
White guys are not the only ones who receive these fraudulent emails informing them that they have won millions of dollars, I receive them too, I dont even bother to open and read the content again, I delete them within a second because I know I havent invested in any business yet and I am not expecting anyone to give me millions of dollars.
Finally, I would say a job well done to those who work earnestly to arrest these criminals, you guys did a great job, I hope many will learn from it and be cautious in their dealings/activities on dating sites.
Peace

@psalmtop, good one! This overgeneralization is wicked and I can tagged it racism(If you belong to another race). I am a Nigerian also studying in Europe and this is a wake up call to other Nigerians abroad and at home to refute any statement like this that generalises.
At whoever is the publisher, this is discrimination and you need to be charged to court for libelling. But I will give you a benefit of another doubt to reflect on your poor judgement which might totally not be your fault but your inability to reason well.
Nigerians are honest, most hospitable and friendly people. A lot of people around the globe can testisfy to these. We have many Nigerians abroad doing very well in their chosen careers and if you need figures and fact you can ask google.
Going back to bidemi, like other scammers, hackers and criminally minded people in Australia or wherever in the world, my gift for you is that nemeis will catch up with you very fast and you shall be put to shame.
To the publisher, have a very good reason for everything you do. ~Laurence Olivier

I really dont condole what Abidemi and is gangs did but the fact is the Brits and the americans are the kingpin in this game. The stupid reporter or the detectives should go back and read the history of we africans. They are the one’s that came to defraud us of our resources all in the name of colonisation and civilisation and they are still doing it up till today in another form(terrorism). Or av u heard of a country from the west that’s experiencing long term disarray, nope. its only in africa. Fuck off,u drew the first blood.

The reporters are wrong at their conclusions by lebelling all Nigerians bad, you cant use thesame brush to paint everybody. No one is giving cudos to the bad guys.
When you talk of scamming, the greedy always fall victim. Imagine somebody you dont know sending letters to you, telling you he has millions of dollars kept somewhere and would need your assistance in taking the money abroad, promosing you some percentage.
If not for greed, how could you accept such deal from someone you’ve never met before?, Its obvious that your acceptance was not to help him but to dupe him also, but at the end find yourself a victim. Who is to blame?
To the woman victim, how could you send such amount of money to someone you’ve never met before?. You have acted stupidly, sorry if i hurt you with that language. You are capable of running a whole nation into big truoble.

You know, it is really appalling that a Nigerian like you would generalize all Nigerians as the same. Your identity on this site is not revealed but from the content of the site, it is obvious you are Nigerian or you are scarily obsessed with Nigeria. I have lived in the United States for more than a decade and i have acquired 3 degrees and work professional for a multi-national corporation. Never in my life have i swindled anyone. I worked nights and weekends and 2 jobs during summer holidays to put myself through school. Therefore, for an idiot like you to categorize all Nigerians as Bidemi Bakare and his cohorts is a slap on my face and that of millions of us who earn our living honestly, & unforgivable.
To the woman who got swindled, really? you would give your hard earned money to someone you have never seen in person? How cheap can you really be? You need to spend that money on therapy because you really need some.

I wonder why many people are angry when they read me saying that Nigerians are bad people. If you are hurt about the statement, no sorry to you, but the statement is true.
My statement is on an average, and that is after a careful observation, several years of study and analysis, and the ability to tell myself the truth. I am a Nigerian, I am not engaged in fraudulent activities, I travel abroad regularly for family reasons, but you know what always pisses me off, the bad reputation that so many Nigerians have craeated on the international scene which in one way or the other will rub off on you at airport terminals; in one foreign environment or the other especially when people know you are a Nigerian.
Thank God I have an alternative.I would rather tell you I’m a citizen of this or that country than tell you I’m Nigerian. Unfortunately, I love Nigeria and cant do without it.
Some years ago, I made a mistake to enter Nigeria with my other passport. I was robbed to my pants; victimized at the immigration, even though they saw my Nigerian name; my luggages were missing and I had to go collect it in another office around the airport. They thought I had money on me. Somebody tell me that Nigerians are good people. Not until that happened to me did I understand what a couple of foreigners complain about when they visit Nigeria and they say this and that bad thing happened to them.
You shout ” the government, the government” everyday, as if the government is the person controlling the banker who is busy changing figures in his office; as if the government is responsible for the activities of Mr Bidemi(above story); as if the government is responsible for the police officer whose part time job is armed robbery; as if the governement is responsible for the pastor of the church who is a fraud. Is there a government without a people? No. Therefore a bad government equals a bad people.
Does anybody know the number of Nigerians in prison around the world? Thousands. For what? drugs and fraud. And its the same fraudulent mentality that the average Nigerian has, for which he seeks greener pastures just to go and perpetuate his evil intentions, that our leaders at home are using against the people they lead. Yes, not all Nigerians are scammers, even though ’419′ is almost synonymous to the National Flag; yes we have a handful of Nigerians who are doing well abroad (just a handful – unfortunately); yes this and that – but the big question is: why doesnt all these translate into a good Nigeria back home? why?
At the end of the day, there will be protests, there will be some debates and arguments against politicians, but what will happen, the people will suck it in, receive a few bribes left and right, and eventually keep quiet.
The fact that Nigerians are so interested in money at the expense of their own reputation is why I said Nigerians are bad people. The fact that Nigerians are very religious and we still come out of our mosques and churches and juju-houses and still choose to do the wrong is why I say Nigerians are bad people. The number of miracles done every worship day in churches in Nigeria or pastored by Nigerians might somehow make you think that God is a Nigerian. But unfortunately, the opposite is true.
Nigerians are the most educated ethnic group in the USA and the entire West and yet once they land in Lagos, they become villagers, spitting on the floor, throwing dirt around – doing things they wont do in Europe and America; and sometimes dont you wonder why the education cannot translate into a better environment back home, thats why I said Nigerians are bad people.
A Nigerian is the most wanted man on the CIA watchlist for fraudulent purposes. I read several comments in online news sites that carry the story, unfortunately, you see some people hailing him. Unfortunately too, they replied with their FB ID. And then you wonder, what kind of people will hail a fraudster?
My question is: if you can build the houses of other people, why cant you build your own house. Thats why I said Nigerians are bad people.
Yes, one bad apple doesnt spoil the whole basket, but I think there are many bad apples in the bunch who are waiting for the opportunity to manifest their potentials.

@Tinu Odunsi
You are not the only one that has lived / lives in the United States and if you have done that for more than a decade, maybe by the time you try 3-decades, you will know what im talking about. Neither are you the first person to work your ass out just to put yourself through school. It would have been nice though if you could see through the smokescreen and see the real picture of my post. It isnt directed to you as a person, its directed to all of us as people, to the nation we call home.
You might not be a bad person, yes, there are millions of us who earn our living honestly, but is the millions of us up to one-quarter of all of us?
When last have you visited the okada man on the street in Nigeria, live and work with them and try to observe what they could do if they have the opportunity to be in political power? Have you tried to get close to those in the society who I would say do not have the opportunity to be corrupt – to try and study to know their potentials if they had the opportunity to do what they really want to do? – deep down? How about children, who we think are stupid and young? you might be surprised to learn some things from them which you thought they aren’t old enough to understand: corruption.
The average Nigerian that complains that the government is not good, what do you think he would do if he were in power? if he had the opportunity to lay his hands on raw cash. Would he/she remember “my people”? No. That is why I said Nigerians are bad people. Why is it that people look at the Lagos Gov Fashola as if he were a God; building good roads, making Lagos into a state of the art – even though in a small capacity, things that those who came before him didn’t do. I thought his presents actions should be the normal. But you know that things have gone so bad that the normal things have become the future.
Perhaps you could check prison records in USA for the reputation of Nigerians and compare it to other Nationalities,. you could leave out terrorism coz we only have 1-man on the list.
And when you call me an Idiot, it just shows you are a Nigerian to the core, someone who refuses to be told the truth, especially when the obvious is all too glaring. I wonder how you knew I was an idiot, you must be one. Welcome to the family.

Is very painful that resourceful young guys could be so callous, wicked and am very sure they can kill when no more women to scam and no money to spend. they are are armed robbers cos that is the way robbers live theirs life. God is watching every other one that are scammers in Nigeria and abroad who were determine to tarnish the good Name of Nigeria shall be caught and brought to book.
Also you can generalize all issues, if you been to Nigeria you will realize, we are hard working people with high sense of reasoning, God fearing people and we are resourceful in all facet of life.
For Abidemi and his gang stars they should be sent to jail in Malaysia and if possible execute them cos we dont need such person back home. we are still battling corruption at high level, then people like Bidemi will still come in and pollute our young generation ( like their young courier ).
For the women they have scammed, i could feel your pains may almighty God give the heart and strength to carry on. For the Intelligent group and the Police i would say big thank you such people are not worthy to live within our society. They are murderers that derive joy while others were crying at their own expense.

There are internet criminals in every nation on earth, they are even more in the industrialized nations. It’s time we stopped believing everything we hear from the western news media about Nigeria. The best internet fraudsters/hackers are Europeans, Chinese and Americans but you may never hear it on CNN. Having said that, what Bidemi did is totally condemnable and he should face the full weight of the law.

I feel sorry for Roselyn. There are so many lonely people out there – both men and women. And there are equal amounts of people who are ready to take advantage of lonely people. Yes, she made the mistake of trusting someone. I too have made that same mistake – white or black – it does not matter. What matters is how we as human beings treat each other and how we create environments that push people to their limits. Evil people do evil things and are not rehabilitated, poor people break down under the pressure of poverty, lonely people take risks and extend trust in hope of relationship while other people cannot be bothered to reach out to neighbours next door or even care about the world beyond them. There is no simple answer, no one thing to blame. I am glad this man and his accomplices have been caught. The man who scammed me was not and no one was prepared to help me find him. When I did find him, he was just a dupe being used by someone else, and there was still no one to help me. So Roselyn, take heart, you have been given some justice, and I hope that you will keep looking for someone but sadly, with less trust and more caution.

Well, nigerians like mypenmypaper may be bad but i am not bad.He travelled around and spend money to investigate about nigerians, but it will be better if he tell me who his parents are.How did his parents made the money he is spending,or how did he made the money he is spending.May be our govt is not doing well but i know that Britains, Americans and other europeans contributed in the bad leadership in nigeria.Let me ask some questions, why did bidemi went to malasyia to study;is our forefathers greedy or bad; what number of nigerians are scammers or in drug business;how many Brits,Italians and Americans are scammers;what happened to the stolen money by our politicians lodged in european banks, who received those money in those banks without clear explaination of the source. Well, bidemi and the group and all the scammers is not upto 10% of nigerian population and what they do does not bother me at all.I just pray that they have their own share of the prison term in nigeria too if their gang in nigeria is not in government.Let us just wished away this 10% useless elements and concentrate on the 90% of nigerians that are doing well.A nation without Jesus Christ is in trouble.

The whites stole Africa’s resources, sold us into slavery and left us with poverty. The whites thought they got away with it…now the fruits of their callousness centuries ago are haunting them. Until the western nation removes their hand from Africa’s affairs, and stop fueling corruption in Africa, nemesis would continue to haunt and hurt them in terms of international fraud and internet scams.
What do you expect? A smart and educated person with no jobs or future prospects…CRIME would be his last resort.

May 16, 2012
@Emenike,
I thought the post was over, but you came here talking. Let me give you my explanation.
Who are my parents? Nigerians
How did my parents make the money Im spending? duh, so you think my parents are millionaires. Let me say Ame. I’m not spending any money made by my parents. God gave me a very bright mind from a very young age, by Gods grace, I have been at the top academically, God opened up doors of opportunities, and the rest is history. You get the drift?
Bad leadership in Nigeria? why do we always blame our leaders for everything? Are they the owners of this country? How many leaders do we have. If we count the number of people, one by one who say they are politicians (real or fake); count everybody from Asokoro to the Arial boy on the street, are they up to 1-million? If they are up to 1-million, are they up to 5-million? No. How about 10-million? definitely not.
There are 150-million Nigerians my friend. Let me be on the extreme side here and say that if 10-million Nigerians are leading 140-million Nigerians astray, then the fault is not with the 10-million, the 140-million are totally stupid people. Out of these 140-million, could we say 80-million are adults?
Why did Bidemi go and study in Malaysia? it beats my imagination. I didnt send him there. Forget Malaysia, how about Iraq and Iran – meanwhile, Iraquis and Iranians themselves are going abroad to study.
Why are you comparing Nigerians with British, Americans, Italians, whoever. Do they have as bad a reputation as we do? See, even the unborn Nigerian is already a 419 suspect – that is how bad it is.
What happened to the stolen money by our politicians lodged in European banks? I dont know what happened to it, but let me ask you another question: why cant we make our banks good, stable, less fraudulent, and world standard up to a point that Europeans and Americans who steal money from their governments will come and deposit them in Nigeria for safekeeping. Then we can use these monies to build our roads and make our societies better. What is wrong with that?
Unfortunately, our banking services are so poor; everybody wants to work in our banks just for the sole purpose of stealing money. Dont you see the cars these our bankers drive around. Someone that studied Arabic studies in University has now become a banker. What is he doing? he works in the counting room – and he calls that a career. But arent we blind to the reality? Yes we are, coz the next time we see him in traffic, we hail him “Oga sir”.
We dont ask how he got to the position he is in presently; we dont ask what he has been using his University certificate to contribute to his place of work; all we are after is the cars and houses we can see.
The fact that you say that Bidemi and his group of scammers are not up to 10% of the Nigerian people and that what they do does not bother you at all is the reason why I said that Nigerians are really really bad people.
A nation without Jesus Christ is in trouble – true talk but in Nigeria, we have too much of Jesus and too much of Allah that we are now spiritually confused. Our hypocrisy extends to our Churches and Mosques – where our religious leaders dont tell us the truth – in fact, we dont want to hear the truth; yet we blame God for everything. That is why I said that Nigerians are bad people.
@HONEST Truth
Unfortunately you are not honest. It is honesty to self when one accepts that his mouth is smelling in public and he has to go back home and brush. It is honesty to oneself to accept wrong. Unless you see the wrong in yourself, nobody will see it for you. They would rather laugh at you behind your back.
I write about all sorts of people my friend. Who is the politician you want me to write about? Do you have a story for publication. I will publish it. Dont worry, you dont know me, but I know you.
Can you see why I said that Nigerians are bad people? You call yourself HONEST TRUTH, at the same time you are threatening me that I wont see the light of the day, calling me foolish and a useless coward? You just confirmed that Nigerians are really bad people.
