I had to refrain myself from joining issues with a lot of Nigerians yesterday as all media was awashed with reportage of the anniversary of June 12 1993 general elections.
The top on the list of hypocrites(my assessment) is President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan. This is one man that his administration have rubbish ed what democracy is all about. This is one man whose ambition and presidency has divided us the more as a nation. This is one man who few weeks ago drag the name of Late M.K.O Abiola into controversy in the manner he renamed University of Lagos after him. Was that what Late M.K.O. Abiola promised Nigerians during his Hope ’93 campaign?
Did Late M. K. O stand for insecurity, “phythonic looting”, cluelessness and misrule?
To top it up, this is one man who circumvented the democratic process in his party, to install his stooge as the Governor of his state, and also got his man as the National Chairman of his party.
This is one man that has raped the judiciary, and betrayed public trust. This is one man that is treating ringworm while ignoring leprosy.
I can go on and on…..
The next of the list is the Action Congress of Nigeria…. This is one party that negates the tenets of democracy..this is one party and bunch of political opportunist and buccaneers that has always thrown up Late Abiola’s name to whip up sentiments. A party that has never conducted a national congress since 2006. A party that had always held Late Gen. Sani Abacha responsible for the woes of this country and Kudi’s death, yet, his close ally is in the party. I mean Dr. Tom Ikimi. A party that blames IBB for the woes of this country, yet his allies are in the ACN… A party that has no internal democracy. A party with tribalistic and regionalistic views and agenda. A party where everything is decided by the Grand Commander in Bourdillon. A party who can sacrifice the loudest voice of opposition in the Senate( Sen. Mamora) just to have the wife of Jagaban in the Senate…all in the name of building a political dynasty. The last council polls in Lagos clearly shows that they are same of the same….Lastly, the last on the list are Nigerians…
Nigerians that are clamouring for more honour to be given to Late M.K.O Abiola and June 12. I wonder if Nigerians remember that it was a Muslim-Muslim ticket. I wonder if they realised the two never held any political office before… and it was not our son, our birthright, or Islamic fundamentalist….it was a combination of two men who demonstrated enough capability, resolve, and preparedness to steer the ship of this country.
So Nigerians, who because have one of their own as the President, who see no evil hear no evil, Nigerians who can’t demand for accountability from their leaders…. Nigerians who are unpatriotic, Nigerians who are grossly indisciplined and morally corrupt…Nigerians who still harbour views and agenda that this country should break up, Nigerians who don’t see this country getting better…. These are all the hypocrites I’m talking about… Cos this was not what Late Chief M.K.O. Abiola stood for… This and that was not what his mandate stood for….
O ye hypocrites….. I’m not fooled!….
